Interview with Oklahoma Arts Institute Quartz Mountain

We have had the utmost pleasure of interviewing a 40 years old non-profit community of Oklahoma Arts Institute Quartz Mountain. We have talked to Anne and this is what she shared with us

About us:

The Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain is a private, non-profit organization with a mission to provide exceptional multidisciplinary arts experiences that develop individual talent and inspire a lifelong passion for the arts. Since 1977, the Oklahoma Arts Institute has recruited nationally renowned artists to teach a fine arts program for talented Oklahoma youth and a series of continuing education workshops for adults. All programs are held at the Quartz Mountain Arts and Conference Center in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute (OSAI) is an intensive, two-week academy in the literary, visual, and performing arts for Oklahoma’s most talented high school students. Students are selected through a competitive statewide audition process, and every accepted student automatically receives a scholarship to attend. The program’s multidisciplinary structure sets the Summer Arts Institute apart from other arts programs in the nation.

The Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute (OFAI) is a series of four-day weekend workshops for educators and adult artists of all ability levels. Instruction is offered in the literary, visual, and performing arts, including workshops tailored to educators, who can receive full scholarships to the program. Over 50,000 Oklahoma public school children are reached each year through their teachers’ attendance at the Fall Institute.

Upcoming events:

Auditions for OSAI are held in January and February each year. Students audition in their choice of eight artistic disciplines: Acting, Chorus, Creative Writing, Dance, Drawing & Painting, Film & Video, Orchestra, or Photography. Judges review audition materials and select the top 270 high school students from across Oklahoma to receive full scholarships to attend. These students will travel to beautiful Quartz Mountain in southwestern Oklahoma to study for two weeks with leading artists from across the country.

What makes OSAI special:

-OSAI is two-week, residential program at Quartz Mountain for high school students.

-Every accepted student receives a full scholarship, which includes tuition, room, and board.

-Our faculty travel to Oklahoma from all across the country to teach our students.

-In addition to learning about their own art form, students will see performances by professional artists and have the opportunity to collaborate with students from other disciplines.

What I want people to know right now:

Audition registration for OSAI is open now! High school students who are interested in the arts should sign up at our website. Our alumni often tell us that their time at OSAI changed their lives. If you know high school students, don’t let them miss the opportunity to have a life-changing summer at Quartz Mountain!
